Chezar Summer Show Features Farmingdale Resident

Marita Katsaounis has several paintings in prestigious show.

Farmingdale resident, Marita Katsaounis has several paintings in the Chezar Art Studio Summer Show, which is running through August 29th at the Jericho Public Library.

Sheila Chezar- Hershkowitz, founder of the studio announced that the reception was a wonderful event with over 75 people who attended. The August show features paintings and drawings of 14 talented artists and students who have attended the studio since its opening in 2012.

Marita Katsaounis started out as a nail technician who developed a large following. The experience of working with her clients, painting on tiny fingernails made the transition to painting on a large canvas easy. Marita began taking painting classes at Chezar Studio in October of 2013. She likes to work on still-lifes, flowers and landscapes in acrylic. In the future she is planning to expand to other mediums such as oil and watercolor. The Farmingdale resident is the mother of two boys. Her husband admires her work and fully supports her in her dream of becoming a professional artist.

Chezar-Hershkowitz received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York City and also attended the Woodstock Summer School in Woodstock.
