FARMINGDALE, NY — Farmingdale Village has a slate of fall fun events coming up, led by the Columbus Day Fair, which runs Friday through Monday. See what else is in store during spooky season.

Farmingdale Fire Department Columbus Weekend Fair, Carnival and Parade

When: Friday through Monday; Saturday's rain date: Oct. 14 or Oct. 15.
Where: Main Street, Farmingdale

On Saturday, the carnival in the parking lot will remain, and if possible the band will still perform, according to the village. However, given the latest weather update of expected rain, Saturday's Main Street Fair and vendors will be moved to the rain date of next Saturday, Oct. 14. Should it rain then, the Street Fair would be held on Sunday, Oct. 15. For this Sunday, Oct. 8, the weather looks good, the village said.

Main Street will be closed this Sunday and on the rain date of Oct. 14, during the Street Fair and for vendor set up in the morning from Prospect Street to South Front Street near the LIRR tracks/ Main Street will be closed during the Parade Sunday 10/8, from Northside Elementary School to Grant Avenue.

The magic show is canceled.

Doggie Runway Show

When: 9 a.m. to noon Saturday
Where: The Village Green
More info: A runway walk for the dogs, prizes for best dog in costume, and a blessing of all dogs.

The Farmers Market, by Schneider's Farm

When: Every Sunday through Nov. 19, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather permitting.
Where: The Village Green
More info: Shop the fresh selection of produce, vegetables & other items. Stroll Main Street / shop and dine downtown throughout Farmingdale Village, support the local merchants.

Open Mic Night

When: 7 p.m. Oct. 17
Where: Village Hall Acts
More info: Individuals and groups 21 years old and younger can register in advance via email: openmicfarmingdale@gmail.com, or can sign-up at 7 p.m. at the event. Free to attend/participate, but there is limited seating inside Village Hall. There will be a moment of silence for Beatrice Ferrari, Gina Pellettiere and for the Farmingdale School District students/staff injured in the bus tragedy. Future open mic dates are scheduled for Nov. 30 and Dec. 19.

Halloween Parade & Family Fun on the Village Green

When: 2 p.m. Oct. 28.
Where: Parade steps off from Northside Elementary School and proceeds down Main Street to the Village Green.
More info: Marchers and parade participants meet at Northside School at 1:30 p.m. Family fun on the Green, featuring pony rides, a petting zoo, costume contest and Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce members will have candy for the kids. Rain date: Sunday, Oct. 29.

10th Annual Long Island Gingerbread and Chocolate House Competition

When: Noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 9
Where: The Chocolate Duck, at 310 Main St., Farmingdale
More info: Calling all bakers! Create a house with the theme of holiday fairy tales/holidays. Prizes are available!
