Continuing Education Students Create Quilts for Military Veterans
Students Donate Quilts to Long Island Veterans Home

The Farmingdale School District’s Continuing Community Education program recently held a workshop giving adult students an opportunity to create handmade quilts for United States military veterans at the Long Island Veterans Home in Stony Brook, New York. Led by their instructor, Mary Meade, the continuing education group measured, cut, sewed, stuffed and embroidered their quilts over the course of weeks. Once the quilts were finished the class donated their quilts to the veterans at the Long Island Veterans Home and thanked the veterans for their service and sacrifice. The funds to purchase fabric and other sewing materials was generously donated by Farmingdale resident, Mr. Martin Linblad.
This program is part of a Farmingdale School District initiative to give back to the community and support local veterans.
