"Just a reminder to support the local merchants throughout the Village," Mayor Ralph Ekstrand stated. "Farmingdale Village is a terrific downtown destination - shop and dine local; explore the many shops, merchants, Culinary Quarter Mile restaurants, bars, clubs, breweries, eateries, with some new spots."

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for Necromantic Brew Co. was held on Jan. 18 by the Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce.

Ralph Mandarino and Jesse Silano, owners of the gluten-free brewery, were welcomed to Main Street. The two experienced delays since leasing the space in February 2020 and officially opened Oct. 28 on Halloween weekend. Necromantic Brew Co. is at 253 Main St., Farmingdale.

The storefront was formerly a bakery, Rocky & Sons, and a furniture showroom. In the 80s & 90s, Mandarino's dad had a bakery, Love to Bake, across the street next to Moby Drugs, which is now Stuff-a-Bagel.

Both Mandarino and Silano have Farmingdale roots, as Mandarino is an engineer who grew up in Farmingdale, while Silano went to college in town.

"It’s a hobby come true for the two friends, Ralph and Jesse, who watched horror movies on weekends," Ekstrand said. "Ralph has a gluten intolerance and they began brewing craft beer in Ralph’s basement in 2018. The beer is naturally gluten free, using ancient, alternative grains. On behalf of the Board of Trustees and myself, congratulations and wishes for much success!"
