Driver Trapped in Van After Crash With Suffolk Transit Bus

BREAKING: The collision occurred on Friday morning in East Farmingdale, police say.

EAST FARMINGDALE, NY - A driver was briefly trapped in his car after a crash with a bus in East Farmingdale on Friday morning, according to Suffolk Police.

The collision occurred between a van and a Suffolk County Transit bus at Wellwood Avenue and Long Island Avenue at 7:50 a.m.

The driver of the car, who was trapped for a short time until the door was removed, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The bus driver was also transported to a local hospital, according to the East Farmingdale Fire Department. His condition is unknown.

The Motor Carrier Safety Section responded to inspect the bus.
