2011 Junior Angler Freshwater Fishing "Catch & Release" Tournament at Caleb Smith State Park Preserve
The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation is please to announce that the Long Island Region, in cooperation with “The Friends of Caleb Smith Preserve”, will be conducting a Junior Angler “Catch & Release” Freshwater Fishing Tournament on June 4, 2011 at Caleb Smith State Park Preserve.
The Junior Angler “Catch & Release” Freshwater Fishing Tournament is geared towards girls and boys within the following age groups: 5 – 8 years old and 9 – 12 years old. The tournament is conducted into two (2) sessions. The first session runs from 8:30am – 11:00am for junior anglers in the age group of 5 – 8 years old, and the second session runs from 12:30pm – 3:00pm for junior anglers 9 – 12 years old. All anglers 10 years of age and under must be accompanied by an adult.
All bait, hooks, and bobblers will be provided, courtesy of “The Friends of Caleb Smith Preserve”.

A limited amount of light fishing rods will be available for use at each session; anglers are encouraged to bring their own equipment. Multiple prizes will be awarded for each age group, courtesy of “The Friends of Caleb Smith Preserve”, and each participant will receive a Junior Angler Tournament tee shirt.
Pre-registration is required. The tournament fee is $10.00 for junior anglers who are members of “The Friends of Caleb Smith Preserve”, and $15.00 for non-members. A $8.00 Vehicle Use Fee will be in effect. Tournament fees must be received by Saturday, May 28, 2011. Space is limited, so register early!
