The Town of Babylon will be celebrating Earth Day on Saturday May 7, 2011 from 11:00 AM to 2:00PM next to the Town Hall Pond, 200 East Sunrise Highway, N. Lindenhurst, NY 11757. The Event will occur rain or shine.
On this day, the Department of Environmental Control will showcase its environmental programs. There will be giveaways such as PET recycled grocery bags, coffee mugs, pooper scoopers; clean energy displays, recycling information, an inflatable bouncing tent for the kids, environmental information regarding the Town’s storm water programs and other environmental initiatives. We expect a large number of agencies, environmental groups, academia and private vendors involved with environmental programs and clean energy initiatives to attend. There will be raffles for energy saving home goods.
We currently have the following companies and organizations participating in our Earth Day celebration: Long Island Green Homes, Suffolk County Water Authority, Covanta, LIPA, National Grid, Energy Master, Slant Fin, Powersmith Contractors/Home Energy Solutions, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Long Island Green, Winter Brothers, Charles Chai Martial Arts (demonstration), JPR Plumbing and Heating, Blackman Supply Co., Residential Energy Conservation, New Comfort Systems, Town of Babylon B.A.A.R.C., Energy by Choice, LTD., Energy Testing Services, US Green Building Council LI, Bonded Building and Engineering, Eco-therm Insulation, Home Depot Copiague, Tragar Oil, Clean Cities, SUNY Farmingdale Energy Center and the United States Department of Agriculture. The Witness Project® of Long Island will also be having its annual event at the Town Hall Green and surrounding the pond to raise breast cancer awareness in African American Communities.
