Stew Leonard's Wines of Farmingdale and Castello Monaci Throw a Pizza Party

Join Chef David Britton, of Food Network's “Dinner Impossible,” to Sample Fresh Brick-Oven Pizza from the Pies On Wheels Pizza Truck and Wines from Italy’s Castello Monaci Estate

Stew Leonard’s Wines of Farmingdale and Castello Monaci invite you to enjoy a classic food and wine pairing when the Pies on Wheels Pizza Truck visits Stew Leonard’s Wines of Farmingdale on Sunday, May 15 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m

Led by Chef David Britton, of the Food Network's “Dinner Impossible” fame, Pies on Wheels is a 26 foot long truck with a 6,500 lb. Earthstone wood fired oven. Customers are invited to sample the pizza at the truck or by the tasting table inside the store, where Castello Monaci will pour a number of their hand-crafted wines, including Castello Monaci Piluna Primitivo, Liante Salice Salentino, old-vine primitivo Artas, and Kreos Rosato 2010. Bottles of each, ranging in price from $11.99 - $36.99 will be available for purchase.

Pizza selections include Crushed Tomatoes, Fresh Basil, and “Fior di Latte” Fresh Mozzarella; Fresh Mozzarella, Wood Roasted Fennel, Spicy Fennel Sausage, and Red Onion; Smoked Mozzarella, Wood Roasted Eggplant, and Arugula; and Gorgonzola, “Negroamaro” Braised Oxtail, Caramelized Cipolini Onions.

Castello Monaci produces hand-crafted wines from vineyards that benefit from superb exposure to the warm and constant Mediterranean sun in Southern Italy’s Puglia region. Among the many delicious foods that complement these wonderful wines, “artisanal” pizza, with its strong direct flavors that also speak of the Mediterranean, is the perfect choice of food.
