PLEASE HELP SPREAD THE WORD FOR THIS LITTLE GIRL STRICKEN WITH CANCER AND HER FAMILY.
On September 9, 2011, Ella went to Cohen Children's Medical Center's Emergency Department complaining of a stiff neck and arm/hand weakness. An MRI confirmed a spinal tumor compressing her spinal cord. This required immediate attention, and Ella was taken to the Operating Room on Friday night for emergency Neurosurgery to debulk the tumor. Dr. Steve Schneider performed this very detailed, delicate surgery. Four hours later he met with the family and was very pleased with how things went. Ella spent the next 48 hours in the Pediatric Intensive Care unit. She required one to one nursing care with hourly neuro checks. Praise God, Ella is moving arms and leg with good strength, vital signs are good, and less then 24 hours after surgery requiring minimal pain medication. Ella has on a cervical collar to protect her neck at this time. Sunday evening Ella was moved from the PICU to the hemotology floor, where she is requiring less care. They are still waiting for Pathology reports on this malignant tumor. They're happy to say that Ella is sitting up eating, smiling and playful.
