The Vagina Monologues 2012: Until The Violence Stops

In honor of V-day (the global movement to end violence against women and girls), a cast of Long Island women will be staging a benefit performance of the Vagina Monologues at High Note NY in Amityville on Friday, March 30 at 8 pm.

The purpose of this event is to raise awareness about violence against women and girls as well as raise money for local beneficiaries that are working to end violence.

The beneficiaries include: SAIL (The South Shore Association for Independent Living) a local mental health non-profit located in Baldwin, NY that services men, women, and families who have been effected by serious mental illness and homelessness.

A portion of the proceeds for the event will also be donated to the women of Haiti.

Following the show there will be an all female band led by Debbie Knapper from the Knappertime Band.

THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES, an award-winning play, is based on V-Day Founder/playwright Eve Ensler's interviews with more than 200 women. With humor and grace the piece celebrates women’s sexuality and strength. Through this play and the liberation of this one word, countless women throughout the world have taken control of their bodies and their lives. For more than twelve years, The Vagina Monologues has given voice to experiences and feelings not previously exposed in public.
