Farmingdale Announces '1/2 Way To St. Patrick's Day Parade'

The parade will be held "since we missed two Farmingdale St. Patrick's Day Parades," Mayor Ralph Ekstrand says. Other events were announced.

FARMINGDALE, NY — As events are returning to Farmingdale Village, a special Irish one has been announced.

The "1/2 Way To St. Patrick's Day Parade" is set for 3 p.m. Sept. 12, according to Farmingdale Mayor Ralph Ekstrand. The event was formed "since we missed two Farmingdale St. Patrick's Day Parades" due to the coronavirus pandemic, Ekstrand said. "Farmingdale, Get your green on!"

New York State Senator Kevin Thomas will serve as grand marshal. Following the parade, eventgoers are recommended to explore the downtown shops, merchants, restaurants, bars, clubs, breweries and eateries in the village.

Ekstrand recommended that Dalers take a mobility survey recently launched by Nassau County Executive Laura Curran. The surveys are meant to help guide the county’s Shared Mobility Management Plan (SMMP) — a project of the Department of Public Works’ Planning Division aimed at improving access to shared transportation options for residents, workers, students, and visitors, particularly for underserved populations. One survey is targeted to residents, while the other is for medium-to-large employers in Nassau.
