Senior Kevin Hassett earns prestigious honor.
Farmingdale High School Senior Kevin Hassett is the winner of the National Merit Scholarship, the school district has announced.
About 1.5 million U.S. students entered the 2013 National Merit Scholarship program and 16,000 students were named semifinalists.
To become a finalist, students had to fulfill several requirements including a detailed scholarship application and present an exceptional academic record.
