Farmingdale High School Announces Valedictorian, Salutatorian

The two students were recognized for the outstanding academic achievements.

Farmingdale High School recently announced the valedictorian and salutatorian for the 2016-2017 academic year.

Samuel Croes was named this year's valedictorian.

Croes achieved the highest GPA of the 2017 graduating class with a weighted average of 105.91.

He is a Cross Country Track Captain, a National Merit Scholarship Commended Student, an AP Scholar with Honors, a Band Section Leader, an All-State alternate clarinetist, Treasurer of the National Honor Society, the Treasurer of the Spanish Honor Society and the Science Bowl Co-captain.

He plans to attend Brown University after graduation to study molecular biology.

Hamza Malick was named this year's salutatorian.

He achieved the second-highest GPA of the 2017 graduating class with a weighted average of 104.02.

Malick is a MathCON national finalist, a Science Bowl captain, and member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Mathletes and Science Olympiad.

He is also a volunteer at the Nassau University Medical Center. He plans to attend Duke University after graduation to study neuroscience.
