Farmingdale High School Scholar-Athletes Find Success This Winter
Multiple Farmingdale High School Sports Set Records in Championships

Farmingdale, NY (March 1, 2017) –Farmingdale High School announces the recent success of its student-athletes in school, on the field, in the pool and at the alley this winter. After being recognized by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) in December for achieving Scholar Athlete status for the 22nd consecutive season, FHS Athletic teams continue their success this season.
“The continued academic and athletic accomplishments of our student athletes, with the direction of our dedicated coaches and faculty, always make us proud,” said Farmingdale School District Superintendent John Lorentz. “These students are a testament to how tremendous success can be achieved through hard work and commitment.”
Multiple athletic teams, including Girls and Boys Bowling, Wrestling, Girls and Boys Basketball, Boys Swimming and Diving and Girls and Boys Track headed to County Championships in February to compete. Boys Bowling claimed 4th place at the County Championship while Varsity Boys Wrestling celebrated 6 All County wrestlers, 2 County Finalists and 4 State Qualifiers. Girls and Boys Basketball both finished their season on a strong note, with Girls and Boys Basketball advancing to the Quarter Finals. Girls and Boys Track broke several records, and Girls Track were crowned Nassau County Champions and will advance to the New York State Championships in March. Multiple student-athletes have broken school records as well as personal bests this season.

“The integrity and sportsmanship demonstrated by our outstanding student-athletes are emblematic of the Farmingdale School District ethos and character,” said Farmingdale High School Principal Samuel Thompson. “These students continue to exemplify what it means to be an outstanding student, on and off the field.”
For the past seven years the Farmingdale School District has been recognized as a School of Distinction by the NYSPHAA for its consistent dedication to athletic and academic excellence. The award reflects the Farmingdale School District’s commitment to nurturing students’ growth as conscientious citizens, scholars and athletes.
