Farmingdale, NY (September 30, 2016) – The Farmingdale School District announced today that Farmingdale High School senior Samuel Croes was named as a Commended Student by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Croes was one of only 80,000 high school students throughout the country to receive this prestigious recognition. He was presented with a Letter of Commendation by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation and Farmingdale High School.
“We are incredibly proud of Mr. Croes for his dedication and passion for learning and he is truly deserving of this recognition,” said Farmingdale Superintendent of Schools John Lorentz. “The Farmingdale School District’s mission is to continue to offer an advanced educational experience and Mr. Croes is a fine example of the academic excellence that exists here in our District.”
To be a Commended Student, Croes placed among the top five percent of the more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2017 competition. He received this recognition based on outstanding results he earned on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
