Farmingdale Holiday Events, Family-Friendly New Year's Eve Event, More

FARMINGDALE, NY — There are plenty of upcoming holiday events in Farmingdale Village, while some have already passed.
The Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce awarded Joel Blitzer its "Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce 2022 Outstanding Businessperson of the Year."
"Congratulations Joel on this magnificent milestone and thank you for all your community contributions!!" Farmingdale Mayor Ralph Ekstrand wrote in a news release.

Farmingdale Village was nominated again for Bethpage Best of Long Island in the "Best Downtown 2023" and "Best Customer Service 2023" races under the shopping category.

The holiday season is here, and Farmingdale has some fun events in store. And some events have already gone by this year.
Ekstrand thanked the Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce for planning the Holiday Parade and Visits with Santa at the Gazebo held on Nov. 19. Trustee Walter Priestley starred as Santa Claus.
"The weather was perfect, hundreds attended, and the Parade - visits with Santa kicked off the holiday season in the Village," Ekstrand said. "The Chamber launched 'Small Business Season - Support Local,' to promote supporting local small businesses throughout the holiday season (as well as year-round."
A holiday donation collection bin for Toys for Tots is in the lobby at Farmingdale Village Hall. Toy donations can be dropped off until Wednesday. The hall is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
"Thank you for helping those in need during the holiday season," Ekstrand said.
Farmingdale Village held a Holiday Tree Lighting on Nov. 29, at the gazebo on the Village Green. The community enjoyed music by the South Shore Brass Ensemble, and holiday carols by the Albany Avenue Senior Chorus, according to Ekstrand. The music was sponsored by the Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce, and complimentary hot chocolate and cookies were sponsored by Farmingdale Village merchants.
The Gerngras Park Tree Lighting was held on Dec. 2 (Staples and Hudson streets) with complimentary hot chocolate and cookies, sponsored by Farmingdale Village Merchants.
Ekstrand thanked all the sponsors and everyone involved.
The Farmingdale Village Fire Department was out with Santa on Saturday and Sunday.
The 9th Annual Long Island Gingerbread House Contest was held Saturday at The Chocolate Duck, at 310 Main St.
Farmingdale Village is hosting its Early, Family Friendly New Year's Celebration. People can ring in 2023 with a New Year’s Eve Ball Lighting right before 9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31 on the Village Green, at 361 Main St., weather permitting. People were encouraged to bring family and friends of all ages to the free celebration from 7:30 - 9 p.m.
Free hot chocolate and live music by Farmingdale's Electric Dudes will be played at the gazebo. Residents were encouraged to bring noise makers, pots, and pans. Ekstrand encouraged people to dine and celebrate locally throughout the village before and after the festivities.
"Thanks to the Farmingdale Business Improvement District, Farmingdale Village Fire Department, Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce and the Farmingdale Village Board," Ekstrand said.
