Farmingdale Man Elected to Scout Board

Christopher Pendergast joins Nassau Girl Scouts Board of Directors.

Christopher Pendergast of Farmingdale has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County.

“Christopher has and continues to be a great addition to our Board of Directors,” said Diane M. McFarlane, president of the Girl Scouts of Nassau County Board of Directors. “We believe this is an appropriate recognition for the work that he has done in the past. With Christopher serving on our Board again, we are confident that he will continue to bring strong leadership and help us fulfill our mission of building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.” 

Pendergast has been a member-at-large of the Board of Directors since 2009.

He is the father of a Gold Award Recipient and spouse of a Girl Scout delegate chair, cookie manager, troop leader and troop consultant. Pendergast is the chief information officer for Marchon Eyewear. At Hofstra University’s College for Continuing Education, he has developed and taught professional development programs in Information Technology for more than 15 years.

Pendergast was an active member of the board of Farmingdale Soccer Club. Since 1994, he has volunteered as a coach and manager for both girls and boys teams. A trustee of St. James Church in Seaford, Pendergast has served on the Pastoral Council, finance committee, lector ministry, and fundraising committee.  He resides in Farmingdale with his wife, Ursula, and his two children. His daughter Lauren is a Gold Award recipient, Lifetime member and a Gold Award adviser in Delaware where she attends college.

He is a graduate of Hofstra University and holds both a B.B.A and M.B.A. degree.

He was elected on May 21, at the organization's 47th annual meeting held at The DeMatteis Center, as a member of the Council Nominating Committee.
