Farmingdale Man Fatally Struck Pedestrian, Fled the Scene: Police
The drunken driver struck a 19-year-old woman attempting to cross the street in Hicksville monday night, police said.

A Farmingdale man faces several charges after police said he drove drunk, fatally struck a pedestrian and fled the scene in Hicksville on Monday night.
According to authorities, Gurvinder Talwar, 61, was driving a grey 2014 Honda CRV southbound on Broadway when he struck a 19-year-old woman who was attempting to cross the street near 311 Broadway at 10:15 p.m.
Talwar fled the scene but was located by police 35 minutes later near 595 Broadway thanks to assistance from a witness.

The woman was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital to be treated for internal and head injuries. She was pronounced dead in the emergency room.
The investigation is ongoing.

Talwar was arrested and charged with second degree vehicular manslaughter, leaving the scene of a fatal accident, DWI sub.2, DWI sub.3 and failure to comply with a lawful order.
He was arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
