Farmingdale Native Announces Campaign For Nassau County Legislature

The local resident plans to run for the 12th district seat which covers Massapequa and Farmingdale.

Farmingdale resident Alex Melton announced on Wednesday his campaign for Nassau County Legislature 12th District.

“I want to enact the change I want to see in Nassau," he said. "I want to use my skills to make my community a better place."

The 12th district covers South Farmingdale, Massapequa, Massapequa Park and East Massapequa.

The current leglislator is Republican James Kennedy, who was elected in 2015.

Melton, who has lived in Farmingdale his entire life, says it is time to "finally reform" Nassau government.

"We have a broken tax assessment system, a broken budget process, and an outdated county website," he said. I hope to use my expertise in property tax assessment, open data, and my background in a small business family to bring the transform Nassau County into the place our residents deserve.”

Melton currently works as an economic and statistical analyst for Summit Consulting.

He is a graduate of The George Washington University, with a Bachelors of Science in Economics and Statistics.

He is also a graduate of Farmingdale High School.
