Farmingdale's Hassett named National Merit Semi-Finalist
High School senior praised for academics and community involvement.

Farmingdale High School senior Kevin Hassett has been named a 2013 National Merit Semi-Finalist, the school district announced.
About 1.5 million high school juniors nationwide entered the 2013 National Merit Scholarship competition. The pool of semi-finalists represents less than one percent of U.S high school seniors, and includes the highest scoring PSAT scores in each state.
Kevin’s academic record, participation in school and community activities, and outstanding leadership abilities will now be assessed as he moves on in the competition process, district officials said.
