Farmingdale School District is Saddened to Announce the Passing of Former Superintendent Dr. William A. Kinzler

Former Farmingdale Superintendent Passes Away

Farmingdale (May 18, 2016) – The Farmingdale School District is sad to announce that Dr. William A. Kinzler, a former superintendent of the District, recently passed away at the age of 95. During his 28-year tenure with the District, Dr. Kinzler served as a classroom teacher, guidance counselor, school principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent of schools.

“Dr. Kinzler’s legacy will never be forgotten,” said Farmingdale School District Superintendent John Lorentz. “He helped generations of Farmingdale students learn, grow and thrive. He was loved, and will be missed, by the thousands of people whose lives he impacted.”

Born in Ridgewood, Queens, Dr. William A. Kinzler received his bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees from St. John’s University. He was also a veteran of the United States Navy, serving the country during World War II.

Dr. Kinzler joined the Farmingdale Public School administration in 1956, serving as the superintendent from 1965 until his retirement in 1976. Under his leadership, Farmingdale Public Schools built on its reputation as a center for academic excellence, a reputation which continues to this day. The District sends its sincerest condolences to Dr. Kinzler’s family.
