Farmingdale Schools Closed Monday as Hurricane Approaches

The Farmingdale School District has cancelled all classes Monday in advance of an expected arrival of Hurricane Sandy.

The closing was announced just Sunday afternoon on the district's website.

The closing includes all morning and after school programs.

Meanwhile, as the Plainview area prepares for the impact of the hurricane, the MTA announced that it will shut down its entire system beginning Sunday night.

That will impact LIRR trains to Farmingdale. The system is scheduled to be shuttered by 7 p.m.
