Farmingdale Singer Performs Sunday
Candis Alek will star in a Huntington Cabaret show to benefit the Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum and Planetarium.

Farmingdale's Candis Alek will star in Huntington Cabaret’s original show “Fly Me to the Moon,” a benefit for the Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum and Planetarium, this Sunday.
Alek, who received a B.F.A. in vocal performance from Long Island University and has toured Europe as a soloist with festival ensembles, is among a cast of 20 Long Island singers of all ages.
Linda Ray, director of Huntington Cabaret, is donating the show and producing the event. Guest artist will be Tanya Holt, a well-known New York jazz and cabaret singer and Long Island resident.

Alek has performed in Carnegie Hall and the Cathedral of Notre Dame, and at weddings, concerts and sporting events. Recently, she was a soloist for the world premiere of “Dies Magna,” and in “Sunday Kind of Love” at The Duplex in New York City. She says her favorite roles include Princess Puffer in “The Mystery of Edwin Drood,” Julie in “Some Enchanted Evening,” Adah in “Naughty Marietta” and several performances as soloist in “Carmina Burana.”
Sunday's show will take place at 7 p.m. at the Vanderbilt Planetarium, 180 Little Neck Road, Centerport. Tickets are $15. (A limited number of seats are available, so early ticket purchase is strongly encouraged). Tickets may be purchased on the Vanderbilt website or by calling the museum at 631-854-5579.
