Farmingdale State College HS Program Earns National Accreditation

FARMINGDALE, NY — Farmingdale State College's University in the High School program earned accreditation by the Accreditation Commission of the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP), the school announced in a news release.

University in the High School helps bridge the gap between high school and college-level study, according to the school. The program is designed for academically-motivated high school juniors and seniors wanting to earn college credits. The credits, earned at their high school at reduced tuition, may be used to pursue a degree at Farmingdale or transferred to another institution.

Courses from 19 departments in Farmingdale’s four schools are offered: Health Sciences, Business, Engineering Technology, and Arts & Sciences.

"Farmingdale State College is the first SUNY four-year institution to achieve this recognition," Dr. Francine Federman, assistant dean, College High School Programs, said via release. "We began in 1998 with one high school and have grown to include partnerships with more than 125 high schools."

Farmingdale State College's Concurrent Enrollment Program was recognized as one of 116 accredited concurrent enrollment partnerships across the United States after an extensive peer-review process, said Dr. Diana Johnson, chair of NACEP's Accreditation Commission.

"Farmingdale State College has demonstrated to its peers that the college courses it offers in high schools are of the same high quality as college courses offered on campus," Johnson stated in the college's news release.
