Farmingdale Students Learn About Hispanic Artists with Smithsonian Museum
Farmingdale School District's Howitt Middle School Students Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month

Farmingdale School District’s Howitt Middle School recently celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month to teach students about the value of diversity. Mrs. Caracappa's 7th and 8th grade Spanish classes had the opportunity to learn about the Latino art influence in the United States in collaboration with the Smithsonian American Art Museum via video conference. Experts from the Smithsonian American Art Museum led a discussion on great Hispanic artists and answered student questions about the role of art in culture and society. During the video conference students learned about various works of art and how Hispanic American artists were inspired by Latin and American culture.
This initiative is part of Howitt Middle School’s ongoing initiative to collaborate with museums around the country in order to celebrate Hispanic Heritage.
