Farmingdale Village Receives $1M Water Tank Grant; To See Increased Surveillance, Security Cameras
The Village will be seeing some new updates in the coming months, officials said.

FARMINGDALE VILLAGE, NY — Farmingdale Village has officially been awarded a grant worth more than $1M for a ground-level water storage tank, along with the Board of Trustees voting for the purchase of additional security cameras and license plate readers.
The $1,092,000 grant will be used for a new roof for an existing storage tank located on Ridge Road.
Farmingdale Village Mayor Ralph Ekstrand said the Village applied for the Water Infrastructure Grant from the Federal Gvernment and was awarded the generous grant. He said, given the tank is 60 years old, "it has the expected wear and tear."

"This Grant is a huge win for the Village and our residents, and we are extremely thankful to U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer and Congressman Tom Suozzi for their continued efforts securing the grant," he said.
The next steps will be to draft up the scope of work for competitive bids, review the bids, and choose the best candidate. The Village does not have a completion date yet, but will know more once a company is officially hired.

Another update for the Village is they plan to begin installing security cameras and license plate readers along Main Street to enhance security. This will happen when the next phase of Main Street work begins, presumably in April, officials said.
During Monday evening's Work Session, the Board of Trustees approved the purchase and installation of additional cameras in the downtown area, including license plate readers.
The amount approved will not exceed $55,000. The motion was made by Trustee Parisi and seconded by Trustee Priestley.
