Cruise Control Limos Of Long Island Badly Damaged In Fire

A fundraiser was made for the business after two fires flared up just hours apart.

EAST FARMINGDALE, NY — Firefighters battled two blazes at Cruise Control Limousines, at 65 Allen Boulevard, East Farmingdale, on Monday.

The first fire broke out around 5 p.m. The "severe" fire burned for several hours, needing a dozen fire departments to douse it, News 12 reported. A firefighter suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene, while two employees were evacuated, News 12 reported. Several cars in the building were on fire after part of the building's roof caved.

Arson Section detectives are investigating the cause of the fire, police said.

The second fire started at 11 p.m. at the same address, police said. No one was injured during the second blaze, according to the police.

Cruise Control Limousines launched a GoFundMe after its business was destroyed by the flames. The business had plans to expand, it wrote on the GoFundMe.

"The entire Cruise Control Long Island Limos team is devastated as they watched the office they work in every day, burn to the ground," the business wrote. "Today they look to their community to help them rebuild and restore their beloved business."

The team realized there was smoke in the building around 5 p.m. Monday and evacuated before they had time to grab a fire extinguisher, according to the business. The office interior and garage were engulfed in flames before the fire department could arrive.

"Our beautiful Rolls Royce, limos and cars melted away under the flames as we watched the fire department work to control it," the business wrote. "The goal of this fundraiser is to help the team get a temporary office set up and on their feet to continue doing business before starting the rebuild process."

The fundraiser has raised more than $4,200 of its $10,000 goal as of Tuesday afternoon.
