Five Nassau Breweries You Need To Visit
Long Island has no shortage of great, locally made beer. Here's some places you can go to try some.

There are tons of breweries dotting Long Island that make make fantastic local brews. They vary in size from tiny microbreweries to nationally recognized labels. No matter what you're looking for, there's a local brew out there for you.
Most LI breweries are out in Suffolk, but there are plenty of great places in Nassau County, too. Here are five great Nassau breweries you need to check out.
Barrier Brewing Co. —3001 New St., Unit A2, Oceanside
Barrier is a unique brewery. Just after it moved to its new space in Oceanside in 2012, everything was damaged by Hurricane Sandy. The brewery rebuilt and reopened in early 2013, and has been going strong ever since.

The taproom has nearly a dozen beers on tap, plus more available to take home in growlers, bottles and cans. Plus, the brewery hosts lots of events every week. You can come down for Paint a Pint Night, live music, beer and food pairings and tons more events.

Oyster Bay Brewing Company — 36 Audrey Ave., Oyster Bay
Located in the heart of downtown Oyster Bay, the Oyster Bay Brewing Company features a huge tap room with a laid-back atmosphere. In the spacious tap room, guests can play games like shuffleboard and cornhole.
And, of course, there's beer. Oyster Bay has a rotating tap list that features up to a dozen different beers of all different styles. There are goses, barleywines, IPAs and more.

Lithology Brewing Company — 211-A Main St., Farmingdale
Lithology Brewing Company is located right on the bustling Main Street of Farmingdale. It calls itself a "nano farm brewery," meaning the brewers there make small-batches of beer using lots of local ingredients.
The tap room is smaller than most, but features a rotating list of 12 different beers. They feature brown ales, IPAs, witbiers and more.
Lithology's tap room is open every day except Monday, with happy hour specials from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. For more information, visit the Lithology Brewing Company website.
Barnshed Brewing — 100 Lauman Lane, Hicksville
Located in an out-of-the-way corner of Hicksville, Barnshed Brewing is one of the areas newest beer ventures.
The tasting room features a selection of small-batch beers that are made right in the back of the the building. With 11 beers on tap, there's something for everyone to try. Many of the beers also have Long Island twists, like the Bethpage Blonde and the 135 Pale Ale.

Barrage Brewing Company — 32 Allen Boulevard, Farmingdale
This one may be technically located in Suffolk County, but it's pretty darn close. It's also pretty darn good.
Barrage is based out of a small building in an industrial area of Farmingdale. It's a microbrewery that features small batches of tasty beers. You can try them in the tasting room, but it's also small, and only seats a few people.
One of the beers that's always on the menu is the Yada Yada Yada, which has been likened to drinking a Snickers bar. But there are plenty of other beers you can try on the rotating menu of eight.
Barrage is only open Thursday through Sunday for a few hours each afternoon, so make sure to check the brewery's website when planning your visit.
