Game Day Guide: Root for the Jets in Farmingdale
Bar and restaurant owners prepare for game day with decorations and food and drink specials.

Local bar and restaurant owners predict crowds of green and white this Sunday, as the New York Jets take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC championship playoff game, to vie for a spot in Super Bowl XLV.
“At capacity” is the prediction of Croxley Ales owner Chris Werle for the Jets playoff game.
“We were at capacity for the Jets/New England Patriot game on January 16,” he said. “We don’t expect anything less for this big game.” In addition to its 68 different tap selections and 40 television screens, Croxley Ales will be unveiling a new special drink in honor of Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez.

“The Sanchez will be similar to a Long Island Iced Tea with rum, gin, vodka, and tequila,” Werle said. “But we’re adding Crème de Menthe to give it a distinctive Jets green color.” Werle predicts the drink will cost $7.
Also on the menu for the special game will be 20 cent wings and $4 Foster lager pints, served all day. “We’re the place to be on Sunday,” he said. “We’ve got the most television screens, the largest beer selection, our world famous wings, the best burger in town, a great sound system, and a spirited, enthusiastic group of employees who will all be wearing Jets green on Sunday.”

The infamous Jets man large blow-up inflatable will be standing guard outside of the Changing Times Sports Pub, where owner Jeff Egan predicts wall-to-wall Jets fans along with a few loyal Steeler fans.
“The Sunday game between the Jets and Patriots was utter pandemonium,” Egan said. “I’ve never seen anything like it in my 25 years of business. Nobody expected the Jets to win so as they took the lead, everyone was cheering, singing, and chanting the Jets name.”
Egan expects an equally riotous atmosphere this Sunday where a few customers have already reserved their seats. “Some of my customers are very superstitious and they want to sit in the same seat so the Jets will win again,” he said. The pub will be offering 35 cent wings, $7 pitchers of Bud, Bud Light, and Coors Light, $3 pints of Coors Light, $10 pitchers of Heineken, $10 pitchers of Blue Moon and a pitcher of Yuengling and a dozen of the pub’s famous wings for $12.
The Library Café will be decked out in green on Sunday: green banners, green streamers, all green décor, according to manager Mike Ditroia.
“We’re expecting a big crowd for the Jets game on Sunday,” he said. “The crowd size should double from last week, considering this is the game before the Super Bowl. All Jets fans will be coming out of the woodwork. It will be a huge game for Gang Green.”
The restaurant will be featuring its famous “Tailgate” menu. Football fans may feast on 20-cent wings with a choice of BBQ, buffalo, teriyaki, Chef’s Challenge, mild, hot, honey mustard, chipotle, smoked honey BBQ, Sicilian, Jamaican jerk, Bayou BBQ, ginger teriyaki and honey hot flavors. The “Tailgate” menu also features corn dogs, Serrano chili fries, nachos rancheros, spinach dip, mini burgers, potato skins, pulled pork sliders, Buffalo mozzarella sticks for $5 each. Drink specials include Miller Lite $2.50 pints and $8 pitchers, $3 Bud Light bottles, Sam Adams and Sam Adams Seasonal $3 pints and $11 pitchers. In addition, packages are available for the private room featuring a bartender, drinks and food.
Inviting fans with a large outdoor Jets sign, The Nutty Irishman offers football revelers two HDTV screens along with $2 Bud Light pints and half-price appetizers till the end of the game.
Wild Wild West Saloon is offering free wings from 7-8 p.m. and twofers from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Its seafood platter with fresh lobster, oysters, and clams on the half shell and shrimp will be available for $18.99.
