The Huntington Fire Marshal confirms the pilot of a Geico Skytyper plane was killed in a crash Wednesday in Melville.
The crash happened on Northcote Drive and Colonial Springs Road around 2 p.m.
Four planes had been flying in formation before the crash.
Lou Scaglione, of Deer Park, says he works at the Huntington Quadrangle and was heading out to lunch when he saw the planes flying around. He says he figured they were getting ready to land at Republic Airport. He says when the planes circled around he realized one plane was missing and then he saw a black plume of smoke.
