Happy Days Cannabis Dispensary To Open On Long Island

The dispensary, set to open before the end of the year, is one of several opening soon across New York.

FARMINGDALE, NY — Happy Days, an adult-use cannabis dispensary, is set to open in Farmingdale by the end of the year, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced.

The shop, located at 105 Route 109, Farmingdale, has a tentative opening date of Dec. 23.

The Farmingdale dispensary is one of a dozen planned to open throughout the state, from Brooklyn to Buffalo, Hochul said in a news release. By the end of December, the state anticipates having at least 37 adult-use dispensaries open for business.

"As New York expands the most equitable cannabis market in the nation, my administration remains committed to building a safe industry for all New Yorkers that will grow our small business community," Hochul said. "These new dispensaries continue our mission of strengthening our legal market while at the same time helping to push out the bad actors who skirt our laws and undermine all we are trying to accomplish."

The products sold at these dispensaries are "safer" and licensed, as well as tested to meet the state's "rigorous safety standards," the state wrote.

"This month’s dispensary openings provide a reassuring boost to our commitment to build an equitable industry," New York State Cannabis Control Board Chair Tremaine Wright said. "New York State is home to the most diverse pool of dispensary owners. We congratulate all of our new owners and look forward to continuing our efforts to grow an inclusive and innovative cannabis market."

Chris Alexander, New York State Office of Cannabis Management executive director, said he is "incredibly proud" that before the end of the year, the state will have 12 Black-owned dispensaries operating and 5 Hispanic-owned dispensaries. Alexander said Black and brown ownership in cannabis is "exceedingly rare" nationally.

"This isn't just about numbers; it's a clear indication of our dedication to creating a more equitable and inclusive cannabis industry," Alexander said.
