High Temps, Air Quality Issues Expected for Friday

A cooling center will be opened in Hicksville to deal with the heat.

Grab your shades and drink extra water this weekend because Farmingdale is due for another round of dangerously high temperatures, according to the National Weather Service. The neighborhood will hit a high of 92 degrees Friday, so the Town of Oyster Bay is opening a cooling center at the William P. Bennett Hicksville Community Center from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In addition to the high temperatures, NWS has also put out an air quality alert for Farmingdale. Pollution levels will be aggravated and those with respiratory problems, heart issues, and the young and elderly, so NWS is urging those people to stay indoors.

Temperatures are expected to remain in the 90s through the weekend with slight chances of rain Friday and Saturday. Keep an eye on the temperature and conditions at the top of our page next to the Syosset Patch logo.
