LIRR Ronkonkoma Branch Service Restored After Train Hits Car in Bethpage
Another rough morning commute on the LIRR. No injuries reported.

Service on the Long Island Rail Road’s Ronkonkoma Branch was suspended for hours during the morning rush on Thursday after a train struck a vehicle on the tracks east of Bethpage station.
The accident occurred around 6 a.m. The car that was hit was unoccupied and no injuries were reported, according to Newsday.
Several trains were either canceled or delayed Thursday morning. As of 8:55 a.m., service has been restored on the Ronkonkoma Branch in both directions.

The LIRR says: “Anticipate possible delays as the LIRR operates via single-tracking through Bethpage on the south side track. LIRR crews continue to repair track and third rail damage to the north side track as a result of an unauthorized car on the tracks that was struck by a train.”
