Machete-Wielding Man Robs Nassau Carvel After Trying to Rob a Dunkin' Donuts

BREAKING: After a Dunkin' Donuts employee told him the store had no money, he robbed a Carvel a half hour later Wednesday night.

A man armed with a machete robbed a Nassau County Carvel a half hour after he tried to rob a Dunkin' Donuts Wednesday night, Nassau Police said.

According to police, the man entered the Dunkin' Donuts located at 4007 Merrick Road in Seaford at 9:12 p.m. He displayed a machete and demanded money from a cashier. After being told there was no money, the man, whose face was covered, fled through the parking lot without any proceeds.

The man was described as 5-foot-7, wearing a black hat, dark colored jacket, blue jeans, black and white sneakers and black gloves.

At 9:42 p.m., about five miles from the Dunkin' Donuts, police believe the same man entered the Carvel located at 319 Northwest Dr. in South Farmingdale. He displayed the machete and demanded money from the cashier. The cashier, who was in the process of counting money from a tip container, handed him about $40 in cash. The robber then fled the store and was last seen heading northbound onto Hart Street.

The man was described as wearing a dark gray jacket, a black ski hat, white sneakers and a dark gray scarf covering his face.

No injuries were reported in either incident. Police are asking anyone with information regarding the crimes to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
