Major Delays on Ronkonkoma LIRR Branch After Train Strikes Car
Service has been restored, but massive delays remain.
It’s a been a rough commute for those on the Long Island Rail Road’s Ronkonkoma Branch Thursday morning.
A train struck an unoccupied car in Wyandanch, east of Pinelawn station, around 6:30 a.m., leading to a service suspension between Ronkonkoma and Farmingdale.
Service has now been restored, but as of 9 a.m., delays are averaging two hours.

The train involved in the crash was the 6:08 a.m. train from Ronkonkoma due at Penn Station at 7:27 a.m. It is unclear why the car was on the tracks, but no injuries have been reported.

The 6:08AM train from Ronkonkoma due Penn at 7:27AM is operating 131 minutes late after striking an unauthorized vehicle on the tracks.
The 6:24AM train from Ronkonkoma due Penn at 7:30AM is operating 114 minutes late due to an earlier train being disabled in single-track territory caused by striking an unauthorized vehicle on the tracks.
The 6:54AM train from Central Islip due Penn at 8:06AM is operating 95 minutes late due to an earlier train being disabled in single-track territory caused by striking an unauthorized vehicle on the tracks.
The 6:56AM train from Ronkonkoma due Atlantic Terminal at 8:17AM is operating 90 minutes late due to an earlier train being disabled in single-track territory caused by striking an unauthorized vehicle on the tracks.
The 7:04AM train from Ronkonkoma due Penn at 8:19AM is canceled. The first westbound train to operate is the scheduled 7:32AM out of Ronkonkoma and will depart momentary. It will make an added stop at Bethpage.

The 7:54AM train from Deer Park due Riverhead at 8:55AM is operating 47 minutes late due to an earlier train being disabled in single-track territory caused by striking an unauthorized vehicle on the tracks.
