Man Arrested After Biting, Choking Neighbor: Cops

BREAKING: The man was restrained by the victim's family until officers arrived, police say.

FARMINGDALE, NY - A Farmingdale man was arrested for assaulting his neighbor early Sunday morning, according to Nassau Police.

According to police, a 75-year-old man opened the door to his Eastern Parkway apartment after hearing banging sounds at about 3:57 a.m.

After opening the door he found 42-year-old Pedro Callejas, also of Eastern Parkway who immediately began punching him in his face, chest, and arms.

Callejas also bit the man on his left arm and choked him, police said.

Family members that heard the confrontation came to help the man and restrained Callejas until police arrived.

He was then put into police custody without incident.

The man suffered lacerations to his left eye and forearm along with multiple bruises. He was transported in a Nassau County Police Ambulance to a local hospital and was treated for his injuries.

Callejas is charged with first degree burglary and second degree assault. He will be arraigned on Monday.
