Man Found Driving With Cup Of Vodka, Heroin In Car: Police

The 58-year-old was arrested for driving drunk and high on Monday night, police say.

SOUTH FARMINGDALE, NY - A Seaford man was arrested after he was caught driving with a cup half full of vodka and heroin in his car in South Farmingdale on Monday night, according to Nassau Police.

Officers on routine patrol saw a 2014 grey Jeep make a left hand turn onto Merrits Road at about 10:30 p.m.

While driving southbound on Merrits Road, the car failed to maintain a lane of traffic and drove over the white pavement markings and officers conducted a vehicle traffic stop, police said.

The driver, identified as 58-year-old Thomas Mancinelli, was found to have slurred speech, glassy bloodshot eyes and an odor of an alcoholic beverage from his breath, police said.

He was then placed under arrest.

After his arrest, a hypodermic syringe along with a silver spoon containing a melted blue powdery substance believed to be heroin was found inside the car and a red cup half full of a beverage believed to be vodka was found in the center console cup holder, police said.

Mancinelli was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, DWAI combined drugs/alcohol and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

He will be arraigned on Tuesday.
