Man Killed, Woman Injured in Plainview Motorcycle Crash

A Huntington man was killed and a female passenger was injured when the man’s 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle crashed into the back of another vehicle in Plainview on Friday night, police said.

Robert M. Stawkowski, 54, and a 41-year-old woman were riding the motorcycle northbound on Woodbury Road at 11:07 p.m. when they were unable to avoid colliding into a Toyota that was turning into their lane from an East Court intersection, police said.

Stawkowski was pronounced dead the scene and the passenger was taken to a local hospital to be treated for her injuries. The 21-year-old man driving the Toyota was unharmed and no other injuries were reported.

Authorities do not suspect any criminality.

The Toyota and the Harley were impounded for brake and safety checks.
