Man Tries to Rob Nassau Starbucks: Police

After a cashier told him she had no money, the 29-year-old took a seat at the counter, where police say they found him when they arrived.

FARMINGDALE, NY - A 29-year-old man was arrested after he tried to rob a Starbucks in Farmindale Friday morning, Nassau Police said.

According to police, Rashawn J. Mcknight, of Wyandanch, entered the Starbucks located at 121 Secatogue Avenue around 6:23 a.m. and presented a note to a female cashier demanding cash.

After the cashier explained that she had no money, Mcknight took a seat at the counter and the cashier activated the store's silent alarm, police said.

Second Precinct officers arrived on scene and placed Mcknight into police custody without incident, police said.

Further investigation revealed that Mcknight was in possession of a taser, but it was not displayed during the robbery attempt, police said.

Mcknight is charged with third degree robbery and third degree criminal possession of a weapon. He will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Saturday.
