Man Who Sold Cocaine And Fentanyl On LI Gets 10 Years In Prison: SCDA
The man was on parole for convictions re: drugs and firearms but continued to sell cocaine and fentanyl, Suffolk DA Raymond Tierney says.
SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — A Hempstead man was sentenced to 10 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to distributing narcotics while he was on parole, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced Thursday.
On Sept. 13, Obdul Anthony, 50, pleaded guilty to one count each of second-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance (a class A felony) and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance (a class B felony).
“After being released to parole supervision for serious felony convictions involving drugs and
firearms, and boldly continuing to sell cocaine and fentanyl while on parole, this defendant has
finally received the appropriate sentence of imprisonment for the deadly substances he has peddled on our streets,” Tierney stated via news release. “Thanks to the persistent and collaborative work conducted by members of the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office in collaboration with the Suffolk County Police Department, this defendant has finally received a sentence commensurate with his actions, which will keep him off our streets for a decade.”

Suffolk police began investigating Anthony's narcotic distribution in Farmingdale after learning of his dealings there, authorities said. Undercover Suffolk officers contacted Anthony to purchase cocaine and fentanyl, officials said.
Anthony sold cocaine and/or fentanyl to police officers from the Narcotics Section on seven separate dates between October 2021 and December 2021, prosecutors said.

Anthony, who had been released to parole supervision for his 2016 convictions on two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, was arrested by the Suffolk County Police Department for the above sales on Dec. 20, 2021, authorities said. He also has prior convictions from 2006 and 2007 for third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and also has a conviction for third-degree attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance in 1996.
At the time of his guilty plea, Anthony admitted that on Dec. 15, 2021, he sold over a half ounce of cocaine to an undercover officer and that on Oct. 20, 2021, he also sold a quantity of fentanyl to an
undercover police officer, officials said.
Anthony was sentenced to 10 years of incarceration followed by five years post-release supervision. He was represented by Matthew Tuohy, Esq.
