FARMINGDALE, NY — Students, faculty and staff will need to wear face coverings while indoors at Farmingdale State College; regardless of whether or not they are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, the school announced Thursday.

SUNY will require all students to be vaccinated once any of the three vaccines currently under emergency-use authorization get full approval by the FDA, said FSC President John Nader in a letter to the community. Residential students and student-athletes will be required to be vaccinated before the SUNY vaccine requirement takes effect, Nader said. Other students in extracurricular activities may also be required to be vaccinated prior to FDA approval.

The mask guidance is in line with the latest Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations that everyone wears a face-covering indoors in regions that are experiencing a high or substantial spread of COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status, Nader said.

Thanks to the excellent work of Academic Affairs and the Registrar’s Office, we are prepared to shift/pivot to an A/B week schedule if circumstances require us to do so."
