Merchants Sign On to Food Drive

Numerous businesses in Farmingdale have signed up as collection points for a drive to benefit the St. Kilian food pantry.

Daleview Care Center, which is coordinating the drive, said it has gotten "amazing feedback from merchants to participate in the coordinated community food collection, as well as for discount offers that will, hopefully, encourage potential food donors to also patronize the businesses."

Among the businesses helping with the drive is Hair Sensations. Barbara Heinrich, the salon's owner, said, "I feel as if everyone helped a little, people wouldn't be going hungry. There's no reason for anyone to be hungry."

Stylist Angela Bianco said, You give, you get. It's good karma."

And karma might be at play; the salon is celebrating its 22nd year in business Thursday.
