Nassau Man Arrested After Driving Without License: Police
Police say the man gave the officer who pulled him over a fake name, because he had a warrant out for his arrest.

Nassau police arrested a Westbury man on Tuesday night after officers say he was driving a car he didn't own without a license or registration.
According to police, an officer on routine patrol saw a tan Jeep with South Dakota license plates swerve between lanes of traffic while heading east on Fulton Street in Farmingdale at 11:15 p.m. The officer pulled the car over on Fulton Street and Heisser Lane.
Police say the investigation revealed that the license plates did not match the vehicle; the driver did not have a license, proof of registration or a valid insurance card. In addition, police say the driver, Sammy L. Merchant, 25, of Hopper Street, Westbury, gave the officer a fake name. Merchant had an active Nassau County Bench Warrant from Sept. 2017.
