New Nassau Police Commissioner Appointed

The new commissioner is replacing Thomas Krumpter who retired after 25 years on the force.

Patrick Ryder was recently appointed as the new Acting Commissioner of the Nassau County Police Department.

Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano presented the Commissioner’s shield to Ryder on Friday. He officially started as Acting Commissioner on Thursday.

Ryder is replacing Commissioner Thomas Krumpter who announced last month that he will be retiring after 25 years on the force.

Ryder, who joined the NCPD in 1986, was named Deputy Commissioner in January.

“I am honored to present this shield to Nassau’s new Acting Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder,” Mangano said. “He is a seasoned professional in the field of modern policing and I am pleased to appoint him to the position. Nassau’s residents are in good hands.”
