PHOTOS: First Day of the Fall Festival

Rain showers and thunderstorms didn't keep away residents from enjoying the first official night of the Village of Farmingdale Fire Department's Columbus Day Fair on Oct. 4.

Children were seen riding classic attractions and trying their hand at popular games, winning toys and for some, even live fish. Many took part in the eclectic carnival fare that ranged from candied apples to strange delicacies, such as deep-fried oreos.

Farmingdale Village Board Deputy Mayor Patricia Christiansen, who orchestrated the fall floral decorations for the festival, said she is excited about this year's fair and commended the Village Fire Department on their efforts.

"I particularly enjoy walking along Main Street, meeting friends and neighbors, partaking of all the good food offered by our restaurants, marching in the parade on Sunday evening and, of course, the fireworks," she said.

"I think that this festival is a wonderful segue into the upcoming holiday season, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas, and highlights so much of what our Village has to offer its residents and visitors." 

Each ride requires a minimum of three coupons, with a maximum of five. Tickets are $1 each and $25 for each pay-one-price (POP) bracelet.

The fall festival will conclude on Oct. 7 starting with a parade at 6 p.m. followed by fireworks at 10 p.m.
