Piazzetta Fills Stomach and Empty Storefront

The Pizzeria and Restaurant is the new kid on the block in East Farmingdale.

Piazzetta of East Farmingdale is the newest addition to the Meat Farms Shopping Center on Route 109. With this storefront empty for months, residents were happy to see a pizza place return to the location. Customers approaching the restaurant are now greeted by the establishment’s colorful sign and lively music coming from the speakers.

This pizzeria and sit-down restaurant offers an extensive menu of Italian cuisine. Choose from a variety of pizzas, pastas, heroes, salads, chicken dishes and more for take out or dining in. For those grabbing a quick slice of cheese pizza, make sure you take some napkins for dabbing as the oil may be a bit much for some people.

Employees working at the counter and in the seating area were friendly and helpful. For those dining in, the warm-colored décor and well-cleaned booths and tables were inviting. Catering is available for your special events, and free delivery, is also offered.

The Dish: Meatball hero ($6.95). On a dreary day a hearty lunch was in order. The generously-sized meatball hero was served on a large white plate providing a nice presentation.

How’s It Taste: Lightly toasted Italian bread provided the perfect foundation for this favorite. The meatballs were tasty and had that melt-in-your-mouth quality. Plum marinara sauce was nice and fresh and complemented the dish perfectly. With about a dozen good-sized meatballs, this hero can satisfy even those with the biggest appetites.

Sides: While the hero can stand on its own, a tossed side salad ($2.25) is always a great option especially if your main course is making you feel a bit guilty. Piazzetta serves the toss salad with their house “Italian Style” dressing. Crisp iceberg lettuce is topped with cherry tomatoes, shredded carrots, and sliced black olives, cucumbers and onions. The dressing added just enough flavor without being too overpowering.
