Remodeled Walmart In Farmingdale Holds Grand Reopening

The store's "significant" expansion created 250 jobs. Here's what's new at the location.

FARMINGDALE, NY - The Walmart Supercenter in Farmingdale has been remodeled and significantly expanded, the company announced Tuesday. The location, at 965 Broadhollow Road, created 250 new jobs.

The project transformed the grocery department and will provide customers with an enhanced, innovative shopping experience, according to the store.

"This expansion of our Farmingdale store brings dramatic benefits to the entire local community – which is particularly exciting during these challenging times," Store Manager Said Hasan stated. "By increasing our grocery offerings and incorporating the latest innovations, we’ve made shopping even more convenient for our customers. And the entire area benefits from the hundreds of jobs we’ve created."

The Walmart space increased by approximately 62,000 square feet. Some additions include:

  • A full grocery section, with fresh produce and meat. In addition, customers will find a full-service deli and an in-store bakery offering an assortment of custom items.
  • Online grocery pickup and express delivery at no additional cost. Customers will be able to pick up groceries without having to leave their cars.
  • Pick-Up Tower – Much like a very large, high-tech vending machine, the Walmart Pick-Up Tower allows customers to collect a previously-ordered item from Walmart.com in less than a minute, simply by scanning a confirmation bar code that’s been sent to their smartphone.

The grand reopening will be celebrated over the next few days with festivities in the parking lot. Included will be giveaways by vendors including Red Bull, Kellogg’s, Snapple, AriZona Beverages, Pepsi, Bimbo, Nabisco, Utz, Under Armour, and Wise.

The Farmingdale Walmart has provided support to Cops Helping Cops ($3,500), Special Olympics New York ($1,000), International Youth Fellowship ($1,000), and Girl Scouts of Suffolk County ($2,000).

The store is also taking safety precautions to protect customers and staff from the coronavirus outbreak.
