FARMINGDALE, NY — A Manhattan man was arrested Tuesday in South Farmingdale after police say he stole goods from the Stop & Shop at 55 Motor Ave. Edward Robinson, 35, of Wards Island, had also stolen from different Stop & Shops four different times previously, police said.

Around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, a male employee working at the Farmingdale Stop & Shop called 911 after he saw Robinson grabbing and hiding allergy medication, police said. Police arrived and said they saw Robinson remove two bags of unpaid items from his shopping cart and exit the south doors, passing all registers without making any attempt to pay for the goods. Officers stopped Robinson and arrested him without further incident, police said. Various items worth more than $1,400 were recovered by officers. No one was injured.

Robinson was charged with third-degree grand larceny. He was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Wednesday.
