Should the Village Allow Red-Light Cameras?

Farmingdale considers Nassau County request for installation.

The Village Board is to install red-light cameras at two intersections.

The cameras have proved controversial though there is support from traffic experts around the country who say they reduce accidents caused by drivers rushing to clear an intersection before the light turns red.

The two intersections are Route 109 and Main Street  and the NY 24 and Merrits Road intersection as possible sites for these new cameras. And a third under consideration is at Staples Street and Route 109.
