Skytypers To Fly Over LI In Support Of Front-Line Workers Tuesday
BREAKING: The fleet will write messages of hope and encouragement in the skies for those battling the coronavirus head-on.
LONG ISLAND, NY — A fleet of World War II airplanes will fly over Long Island on Tuesday in a show of support for first responders, health care workers and grocery store workers who are on the front lines of the new coronavirus. The GEICO Skytypers Air Show Team is set to bring its "Messages of Thanks and Hope" show to Connecticut, Westchester, New York City and Long Island between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
The flight squad of six vintage WWII aircraft will fly down the East River before circling Manhattan and heading up the Hudson River, according to a map on the team's Facebook page. The team will then pass over Queens on its way to Long Island.
"These messages of thanks and hope are dedicated to the frontline responders and all those affected by COVID-19," the team writes.

The Skyptypers team advised New Yorkers to watch the show from the "safety of their homes and practice social distancing."
The air show comes after the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and Air Force Thunderbirds jets flew in tribute to medical workers on the frontline of the new coronavirus crisis last week.
